A mobile-first onboarding should feel like a conversation, not a form you have to survive before you can write.
A long onboarding form makes every unfinished decision visible at once. On a phone, that turns the beginning of a book into a narrow column of administration. Novelbound now asks one question at a time, with a clear next step and a progress indicator that tells you where you are.
The questions are not account setup. A title becomes the title. The sentence about what happens becomes the logline. A protagonist becomes the first character record, and the promise you make the reader becomes a thread the book must eventually pay off.
Back and Next preserve every answer, while required questions are checked before the next card moves into place. Motion is small and respects reduced-motion settings. Mobile inputs use readable sizing and controls stay above device safe areas.
The goal is simple: by the time onboarding ends, the book has already begun. Day one should open onto a workspace with something true in it, not another empty dashboard.
