Refunds and cancellation

The short version

Full refund within 30 days of a charge, no reason needed. After 30 days that charge isn't refundable, but you can cancel any time and you keep access until the period you've paid for ends. Your writing is always yours and always exportable.

Within 30 days

If you're within 30 days of a payment, email quincy@cleverwolfdigital.com and ask. We refund it in full. You don't have to explain, and we won't ask you to sit through an attempt to talk you out of it.

Refunds go back to the card that paid, through Square. Square typically takes a few business days to return the money to your statement — that part is their timing, not ours.

After 30 days

Charges older than 30 days aren't refundable. You can cancel at any moment, and the cancellation stops the next charge rather than clawing back the last one — so you keep full access until the end of the period you've already paid for.

We don't do partial-month refunds. The month you're in is the month you bought.

What cancelling does to your books

Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked away. A cancelled or lapsed account becomes read-only: you can still open every book, read every scene and export the whole thing as markdown. You simply can't write new words until you reactivate.

We think locking a novelist out of their own manuscript over a payment problem is indefensible, so we don't do it.

If a payment fails

We'll email you. The account moves to read-only rather than being suspended, and it comes straight back the moment a working card is on file. We don't add late fees.

The trial

The free trial needs no card. Nothing is charged when it ends — the account simply becomes read-only until you subscribe. There's no accidental first charge to refund, because there isn't one.

Price changes

Novelbound is $9.99 per month. If the price rises, existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at for as long as their subscription stays active. If we ever change that, you'd get notice by email before it affected a charge.
